The International Junior Science Olympiad is an annual science event for secondary school students under the age of 16 years. The contest not only brings students together from all over the world to compete in the natural science but it also serves as an avenue for forming long lasting International friendship.
Nigeria has been participating in the IJSO since inception. Miss Adedoyin Adegboye won the first ever medal for Nigeria. See History of Nigeria in the IJSO for more details. IJSO Nigeria currently comprises of Volunteer Lecturers, Parents, Teacher and indeed students themselves who have freely given their services to ensure that annually Nigeria presents a formidable team that will represent Nigeria at every IJSO.
The organization of IJSO Nigeria is now coordinated by the Center for the Gifted in Science in Abuja. Center for the Gifted in Science is a registered not for profit educational organization that thrives on donation and grants by Federal Government of Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, State Ministries of Education, Science and Technology, Corporate organizations, Schools, Students and premium members on our websites.
